Your Video Game Incubation Community
1-UP CLUB's mission is to foster a diverse community of independent Dutch video game developers who wish to start or level-up their video game businesses.
In order to ensure a safe and inspiring environment, we run a closed Discord community. Any new application is put to a vote, allowing members to voice their possible concerns.
We strongly believe there is strength in numbers. With over a hundred members already, there's always someone with valuable knowledge on any given topic. Our size also allows us to secure discounts for events and on game-related services.
Once a month on a random Tuesday evening, we host our 1-UPDATE online event. We invite industry experts to join us as we discuss topics essential to running your own video game business.
One hour before each edition of the Dutch Game Association's monthly Network Lunches, community members are invited to come together in person during our 1-UP CLUB DATES.
It's during these meetings that real personal connections are being made between our community members, which is especially useful for new members.
Anyone who's serious about being an independent videogame developer is welcome to press the Apply! button.
We focus on the Dutch Video Game Industry, and our 1-UP CLUB DATE meetings take place in Utrecht, in the Netherlands. But we'll accept Belgian applications as well if that doesn't bother you!
Membership is completely free. We do request all 1-UP CLUB members to be active participants and add value to the community when they can.
We give existing club members a few days to cast their votes on new applicants. If it takes much longer, feel free to bug 'collinvanginkel' over Discord.
The club was set up by Collin van Ginkel in an attempt to fill in the gap created by the closure of Dutch Game Garden and its Incubation Program.
While he's the driving force behind the continuity of the club, the goal is to make it as community-driven as possible.
Our monthly 1-UPDATE calls wouldn't be complete whithout the support of these industry experts. They have generously donated their time to engage with our members and share knowledge on a wide range of topics.

Our community invites any and all individuals and teams who wish to start, or level up, their video game businesses to apply for membership.

We strive to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all our members. However, if you are subject to or witness unacceptable behavior of any kind related to 1-UP CLUB, please contact our confidential counselor Sebastiaan de Witte.
Anything you say will stay between you and Sebastiaan and not shared with anyone else without your explicit permission. He's there for you and you only.
By default, we don't share any information shared on our Discord server with the outside world. Our 1-UPDATE video sessions also dive into our personal victories and challenges, so they are also not stored or recorded.
